City of Atlanta

Atlanta Building Permits

Building permits in Atlanta are issued by the Office of Buildings inside the Department of City Planning, at 55 Trinity Avenue SW. Applications, payment and tracking run through Accela Citizen Access, with one exception: since February 1, 2025, Express permits are only accepted in person, where the Express Permits Division works to a 30-minute review. The city permits all work inside its limits, which span Fulton and DeKalb counties, and has applied the 2024 Georgia codes since January 1, 2026.
