Detroit Building Permits
Building permits in Detroit are issued by the Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED) at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, which enforces the state construction code under the City's own administrative and licensing ordinances. Applications run through the eLAPS portal, drawings that need plan review go through ePLANS, and trade and building permits are separate filings. On top of the state license, contractors doing certain work in the city need a City of Detroit contractor license and registration, renewed annually.
