Louisville Metro

Louisville Building Permits

Louisville Metro's Department of Codes and Regulations, through its Office of Construction Review at 444 South Fifth Street, permits and inspects construction across all of Jefferson County; city and county have been one jurisdiction since the 2003 merger. It enforces the Kentucky Building Code and Kentucky Residential Code, which apply statewide as both the minimum and the maximum. Some small cities inside the Metro boundary issue their own sign permits by agreement, so check the city first.

Common questions

Kentucky Building Permit FAQs

What building permit services do you offer in Kentucky?

Alliance Permitting prepares, files and tracks residential, commercial and specialty trade permit applications across Kentucky jurisdictions. Exact forms, government fees, credentials and review steps depend on the authority having jurisdiction and the project scope.

Can a permit expediter guarantee faster issuance?

No. Review queues and issuance remain with the jurisdiction. Our role is to reduce avoidable administrative mistakes, incomplete packages and preventable correction cycles that can add time to a project.

Which Kentucky jurisdictions do you file in?

Alliance Permitting supports projects statewide, including the central Kentucky counties, regional cities and statewide jurisdictions. The Kentucky guide hub currently contains 25 published county and municipal guides with local filing information.

Do you handle jurisdiction permit fees?

Government permit fees are set by the issuing jurisdiction and vary by project. Alliance Permitting can coordinate fee payment as part of the filing workflow when appropriate; the service quote is separate from government charges.

Do you file permits across Kentucky cities and counties?

Yes. We prepare, file and track permits for Louisville projects. See the Louisville Building Permit Guide for the current local filing path and official resource links.

Do you offer volume pricing for Kentucky contractors?

Yes. Program accounts are set up on a discovery call with a committed rate based on the agreed scope and expected permit volume.
