New Orleans Building Permits
Building permits in New Orleans are issued by the Department of Safety and Permits through the City's One Stop App, which handles application, document upload and fee payment. Plumbing permits are the exception: they are issued by the Sewerage and Water Board. New Orleans is coextensive with Orleans Parish, so there is no separate parish permit, but in much of the city the Historic District Landmarks Commission or, in the French Quarter, the Vieux Carre Commission must approve exterior work before the permit is issued. The City enforces the statewide Louisiana Uniform Construction Code.
