The State Fire Marshal’s Plan Review Bureau is the State Building Official and reviews many commercial, multifamily and fuel-system projects outside deferred jurisdictions; residential housing of three units or fewer is exempt from State Fire Marshal plan review. Deferred jurisdictions such as Anchorage, Juneau and Fairbanks handle specified review locally.
