Rather talk it over?
Call 1-855-478-4290 →The Residential Construction Guide requires an Oklahoma architect’s or engineer’s seal where any part of a structure is over two stories, below grade, or has an unsupported span of 30 feet or more. If no fire hydrant is within 600 feet, the plans must show alternative fire protection. The City allows three full days to review house plans; commercial and industrial review takes longer.
How to get a Mustang building permit
Confirm the lot is inside Mustang and check the flood maps for the 100-year floodplain.
Make sure the general contractor and every trade contractor hold current City and state licences.
Create an account and submit the application, plans and supporting documents.
When the City approves the permit, pay the permit, utility connection and park fees, then post the permit number and address on the site before work starts.
Call 405-376-9873 before any work is covered; only permit holders may request inspections.
After all finals, including driveway, the occupancy inspection leads to the certificate of occupancy.
Inspections in Mustang
Inspections are usually available within 24 hours of the request, on business days only, and the City encourages booking an appointment. The general contractor calls for site and footing inspections before the pour, and each trade contractor calls for its own ground, rough-in, top-out and final inspections. Rough-ins and top-outs can be held until all trades are ready, so they are inspected in one trip.

The online Code of Ordinances (version of July 30, 2024) adopts the 2018 building, existing building and residential codes with local amendments. The older Residential and Commercial Construction Guides still name the 2015 editions.
