Marathon sets its building permit fees by resolution and posts the current one (Resolution 2025-73) on the Building Department’s Permit Fees page. Pay in the portal only after the permit shows the comment “This permit is ready for payment”. In-person payments are by check or exact cash only; credit cards are not accepted at the counter.

Inspection requests received before 3:30 p.m. are scheduled for the next inspection day. Requests received after 3:30 p.m. are performed within the next 2 business days.

Requests should include the permit or project number, inspection type, requested date, contractor and owner names, site address, contact phone and any special request. The City asks contractors and homeowners to make address numbers clearly visible for inspection identification.
