Septic systems in Wilbarger County

A permit and an approved plan are needed to build, alter, repair, extend or operate an on-site sewage facility anywhere in Texas. TCEQ’s 2025 report of authorized local septic programs lists neighboring Wichita and Young counties but no program for Wilbarger County, and TCEQ states that its regional office is the permitting authority wherever no local program has been authorized. Wilbarger County is in TCEQ Region 3, so applications and planning materials go to the Abilene office. The permitting authority must approve or deny a complete application within 30 days.
