Who issues permits in North Platte?
Building & Inspection reviews plans, issues permits and inspects work. Dave Hahn is the Building Official. Under the city code, the adopted building codes apply throughout the city and within its 2-mile building and zoning jurisdiction; beyond that line, Lincoln County’s Planning & Zoning office issues zoning Land Use Permits and there is no county building permit. Recent annexations have not yet been matched by a full 2-mile zoning boundary, according to Lincoln County’s 2026 comprehensive plan, so look the parcel up on the county GIS map before applying.

North Platte inspections
Any work that needs a permit must be inspected and approved by a City building inspector, for homes and commercial buildings alike; direct questions to the permit clerk or the Building and Inspection email. Under city code, an inspector is to make a requested inspection within 24 hours, and no work may go past an inspection point without written approval.
A third visit for the same inspection is charged a $60 re-inspection fee, and inspections outside business hours are $110 per hour. Mobile homes must pass a City inspection before they are placed anywhere in the City’s zoning jurisdiction, at $120 for up to two visits plus mileage and time beyond 10 miles.

North Platte has adopted the 2018 International Building, Residential, Existing Building, Plumbing and Fuel Gas Codes and the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code, with local amendments; the residential code is adopted without its fire sprinkler section and without its electrical chapters.
