New Smyrna Beach building permit cost

The city fee schedule (revised October 1, 2025) sets fees by work group. New single-family homes are priced by square footage, for example $2,700.04 up to 2,000 square feet, and additions, remodels, pools and similar work by valuation. These fees include up to two plan reviews, routine inspections and all subcontractor permit fees. Half of the permit fee is paid up front for plan review and is not refundable, and every permit carries a state surcharge of 2.5% or $4.00, whichever is greater. Re-inspections cost $67.85 the first time and $271.43 after that.
