County roads: the county maintains only roads the County Judge has accepted into its maintenance system. A private road must first meet the county specifications set by Quorum Court ordinance, pass an inspection by the Road Foreman and a one-year integrity test, and then the Judge may order it into the system. Log trucks, oilfield trucks and other heavy commercial vehicles need a road permit, which you request from the Judge’s office by phone or email. The county road shop is at 400 E. Beech Street, Fouke (870-653-5007).

Flood insurance: FEMA lists Miller County as a participating National Flood Insurance Program community, with flood maps dated December 18, 2009. Texarkana and Garland also participate, and Texarkana holds a Community Rating System class 9 rating with a 5% premium discount. Fouke is listed among the communities not in the program.

Septic systems: outside sewer areas, onsite wastewater permits come from the Arkansas Department of Health, which reviews systems under 1,500 gallons per day with its local environmental specialists.
